Sara Petrocelli-Armstrong is a classically-trained mezzo soprano currently on the roster of the Metropolitan Opera Chorus.  Sara earned her music degrees from the S.U.N.Y. Purchase Conservatory of Music and Carnegie Mellon University, and a degree in Italian Studies from University of Pittsburgh.  She continued her training in opera as an apprentice for Sarasota Opera, Lake George Opera, New York’s Caramoor Festival and Tulsa Opera before joining the Metropolitan Opera in 2013.  She continued her Italian studies during an artist residency in Oderzo, Italy.  Sara specializes in Italian diction and poetic analysis, and currently teaches beginner Latin, an intermediate Italian language course, and Italian diction for singers through her private studio, Armstrong Vocal Studio, in New Jersey, USA.  She is thrilled to collaborate with Summer Music in Tuscany and to offer two different courses:  Conversazione in città, group lessons in conversational Italian, and La musica nelle parole, a one-on-one coaching wherein the singer will learn to deliver an aria or song of their choosing as a dramatic monologue.  Sara is a vocal student of David Jones, and lives in NJ with her husband, baritone Chad Armstrong, and their two young children, Iris and Theodore.
