Renáta Lackó is a concert violinist, violin teacher and musicologist. She received her initial training at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest. Upon completion of her studies in Hungary, she moved to Switzerland studying at the Musikhochschule Luzern, and subsequently to Germany where she lived for several years. For the last fifteen years she has resided in Tuscany, Italy, where she is currently teaching and playing violin. In addition to classical music, she is interested in folk music, klezmer and jazz. She performs also on viola and baroque violin.
Renata collaborates with the Hungarian National Philharmonie, Chamber Orchestra of Basel, Chamber Orchestra of Bern, Berner Symphonieorchester and the Sudwestdeutsche Philharmonie.
During her orchestral career she collaborated with musicians such as Sir Yehudi Menuhin, Daniel Harding, Vadim Repin, Albrecht Meyer, Nicolas Altstaedt, Christoph Poppen, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Dezso Rànki, Emanuel Ax, Giuliano Carmignola.
She has toured in the most famous halls of the world, including Prague Dvorak Hall, Moscow Tchaikovsky Hall, Kiev Philharmonie, Minsk Great Concert Hall, London Royal Albert Hall, Berliner Filharmonie, Wiener Musikverein, Rotterdam De Doelen, Manila Cultural Center of the Philipines, Sejong Cultural Center, and Lucerne KKL. She has performed at chamber music concerts in Switzerland, Hungary, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland and Israel.
As a visiting instructor, Renata has taught violin classes at the Conservatory of Bern and at the Furman University in Arezzo. She has been a teacher of violin at the Cantiere Internazionale d’arte in Montepulciano and at the Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali ‘Rinaldo Franci’ in Siena.
In 2022 she was called by Teatro Piccolo, Milan to participate in the "Diario Futuro" project.
She is a founder of the Sviolinando group and of the MUSIC HUG event, two realities that connect young musicians from all over the world with the aim of overcoming the barriers of distance, language, and social background through music and experiencing diversity as an asset and not as a cause for division.
